SOLAS REGULATION OF CO2 SYSTEM

 

* Capacity: 

-         For cargo space – 30% of gross volume.

-         For machinery space – 40% of gross volume.

  (May be reduced to 30% for cargo ships less 2000 GRT) 

* * The volume of free CO₂ shall be calculated 0.56 m³/kg.  

   * 85% of the gas can be discharged into space within 2 mins. (for machinery space)        

   *  Two separate controls shall be provide. One for opening the v/v’s and another for discharging CO₂ gas.
