What is halon system?

Halon is a halogenated hydrocarbon gas which is used as a fire extinguishing agent, such as halon 1301 (BTM) and halon 1211 (BCF). Halon was preferable for its non toxicity. But now it is no more use for its ozone depleting potential.
BCF & BTM is accepted to use in ship.
BCF – halon 1211 – (Bromo-chloro-difluro-methane)
BTM – halon 1301 – (Bromo-trifluro-methane)
