Marpol Annex-1 Bilge Discharge Regulation

Any discharge into the sea of oil or oily mixture from ships of 400

GRT or above, shall be prohibited unless when all the following condition are not satisfied.

1. The ship is en-route.

2. The oily mixture should processed on oil filtering equipment and design should be approved by administration & after passing through the system has an oil content not exceeding 15 P.P.M.

3. For discharge in special area there should have automatic stop system & 15

P.P.M alarm.

4. The oil mixture is not mixed with oil cargo residues.

5. In respect to the Antarctica Sea, any discharge into the sea of oils or oily mixtures from ships shall be prohibited.

6. The ship must have an oil record book.

7. Ship must be 12 nautical miles from the nearest land.
